Kangin to make his comeback with Super Junior’s 6th album next month

Kangin has been revealed to be joining Super Junior for their comeback, which will reportedly be taking place next month!
According to information released by a few industry officials, Super Junior will be making their comeback early next month with their sixth album. Not only is it their first comeback in 11 months since their ‘Mr. Simple‘ release, but this album will also be including the return of Kangin.
On June 19th, SM Entertainment revealed to multiple Korean media outlets, “Kangin will be participating as a member of Super Junior starting from their 6th album, which will be released early July,” and “He is currently practicing hard with the upcoming comeback.”

Super Junior has an impressive track record with their fifth album alone, selling over 500,000 units according to Gaon Chart and topping every digital chart available. As such, expectations for their comeback this year remain high, and many are anticipating how hot they’ll burn up the summer with their upcoming hits.
One official stated, “Super Junior has nearly completed the production of their new album. They are done with the album jacket photoshoot.”
Another revealed, “Starting from the end of this month to the middle of next month, SISTAR, Super Junior, and 2NE1 will be making back to back comebacks. We’re looking ahead to a lot of competition.”
This will mark Kangin’s first comeback to the stage in two years and nine months since his hiatus for the army. Although he’s been rumored for the musical ‘Goong‘, Kangin will be prioritizing his main career as a singer first.

Shinhwa’s ID photos attract attention

ID photos of the six Shinhwa members have been attracting much attention online.
The screen captures were recently posted on an online community bulletin board with the title, “Shinhwa’s ID Photos”.
The photos of the younger Shinhwa members were first seen on the March 17th broadcast of jTBC‘s ‘Shinhwa Broadcast‘.
The captions read, “These people who live as [original] idols in order to conceal their secret identity… we call them humanity’s last hope“.
Netizens who saw Shinhwa’s photos commented, “I wonder when these photos were taken,” “They looked so innocent,” and “The Shinhwa members look beautiful in their ID photos. They really shine.”

Suzy transforms into a horror movie character on ‘Invincible Youth 2′?

miss A‘s Suzy unintentionally transformed into a horror movie character on this week’s episode of ‘Invincible Youth 2‘
For the June 26th broadcast of KBS‘s ‘Invincible Youth 2′, the crew visited a ranch on Daebu Island to personally make and give milk to the children on the island.
At the end of the day, the cast held another pot-picking game where only one pot had the food and the other pots contained punishments. The punishments were being sprayed with water or flour.
During Suzy’s first pick, the singer was chose a pot hiding a bucket of water. But after being splashed with water, SISTAR‘s Bora commented, “Suzy looks much prettier being soaked with water. Her face is clear and white.”
Upon hearing Bora’s compliment, Suzy was unable to contain her happiness as she began to dance with glee.
However, this all changed during Suzy’s second trial. The singer walked up to the pot she believed had the cream pasta, but unluckily had to face the penalty of being battered with flour, giving her the image of a horror character straight out of a movie.

Shocked by her scary image, her fellow cast members began to back away, whereas viewers burst out into laughter.

Viewers criticize excessive product placement on ‘We Got Married’

MBC‘s recently returned-from-the-dead program ‘We Got Married‘ has been drawing complaints for what some viewers have labeled as excessive use of product placement in the show.
In the first episode since the reality show made its decision to return to regular programming, the Eunjung – Lee Jang Woo couple traveled to Indonesia with their mothers in tow.
The problem emerged when the couple visited the airline company, where various scenes of the amenities offered in first class were shown in great detail and the manager came out to greet them in person. The couple were also shown exclaiming over a mileage card that had been given to them by the airline.
Although product placement is nothing new in ‘We Got Married’, this episode seemed to particularly feature them in greater detail, cutting off the flow of the story, viewers opined.

Actress Lee Chae Young under fire for tweets degrading the overweight

Actress Lee Chae Young is being put under fire for a recent careless tweet regarding the overweight.
On June 16th, the actress wrote, “I went to grab a meal at the nearby Denny’s, but while waiting at the restaurant, I was met with a pink light of fear. They came out looking a lot skinnier in this photo. This is for real. Should I not eat and just leave?”
Accompanied by the post was a photo of two overweight foreigner’s back view at a Denny’s restaurant. Followers and netizens were shocked upon seeing the post, leaving many outraged and furious.
But without knowing what was going on, Lee Chae Young continued, “This makes me want to lose 10 kg as soon as I arrive in Seoul. I’m sorry for secretly taking the photo without permission, but thank you for motivating me,” adding onto the issue.
Although her posts have been deleted, they have already racked up an overwhelming amount of livid responses. A number of netizens screen captured her message and shared the photos on various portal sites, criticizing her careless behavior.
They commented, “I never knew she was an actress who would behave so rashly“, “I’m shocked. Just imagine how hurt those two women would be if they happened to see that photo“, “How embarrassing“, “She should have just kept her thoughts to herself“, and more.
Lee Chae Young has since apologized for her thoughtless remarks saying, “I’m sorry. My heart feels heavy knowing that I have disappointed many for my careless remark. I will take the time to reflect on my actions. I sincerely apologize.

Brown Eyed Girls’ Narsha snaps a photo with her co-stars in ‘Light and Shadow’

Brown Eyed Girls‘ Narsha (as Lee Hye Bin) recently revealed a photo she took with her co-stars, Cho Tae Su (as Kim Rae Ha) and Yang Dong Chul (as Ryu Dam) on the set of MBC‘s drama ‘Light and Shadow‘.
On June 16th, the singer-actress tweeted the photo above and wrote, “Ryu Dam oppa (right) ruined the photo. Euhaha.”
The photo shows Narsha resting her arms on both actors’ shoulders. Each are striking a chic pose except for Yang Dong Chul, who’s seen flashing a bright smile for the camera.
Lee Hye Bin, who was selected as the new CF model for a duck chain restaurant, appeared on the June 11th episode of ‘Light and Shadow’ wearing a duck costume, bringing much laughter to viewers.

SISTAR’s Hyorin under fire for criticizing ‘M! Countdown’

An online community board recently posted screen captures of SISTAR during an interview on one of Mnet‘s TV programs. The post has received explosive attention from netizens as they shared mixed reactions towards Hyorin‘s comments about Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown‘.
On June 15th, a user uploaded the screen captures along with the title, “SISTAR’s Hyorin directly dissed a broadcaster“. According to the captions on the screen captures, Hyorin answered, “Well, they never give 1st place [to us]” and “A broadcaster that doesn’t understand SISTAR’s feelings?” when asked, “What is ‘M! Countdown’ to SISTAR?” Member Dasom also chipped in by saying, “A strict broadcaster?”
After reading the post, some online visitors commented, “Hyorin is cute. I guess they never won 1st place at ‘M! Countdown’. Soyu looks worried? How cute“, “I like Hyorin“, and “They said it for laughs. Calm down“.
However, some thought Hyorin spoke before thinking twice and commented, “Honestly, I think they have become a little arrogant after getting popular“, “This is considered cute? That pose looks arrogant to me“, and “It’s good to be careful with words that could mislead people.”

2NE1 and Teddy to produce Intel’s “Ultrabook Song”

2NE1 and Teddy Park will be partnering with Intel Korea for Intel‘s “Make Thumb Noise” project!
The “Make Thumb Noise” project is an event sponsored through Intel Korea’s Facebook page in which 2NE1 and Teddy Park will collaborate with Intel to create an “Ultrabook Song“. Teddy Park will be producing the song while the girls of 2NE1 will be lending their vocals for it.
The “Make Thumb Noise” project is receiving much attention for fans will be able to participate in the production of the “Ultrabook Song” through Intel Korea’s Facebook page. Through the Facebook page, two to three short music clips will be posted every week, where fans will then be able to vote for the clip they liked the most. Teddy will then make the next music track based on the favored clip.
The voting will begin on May 10th and will run on for four weeks.  The finalized product is expected to be released through Intel Korea’s Facebook page on June 5th.
In addition, the “Ultrabook Song” photos and making-of video will be released in English, Japanese, and Korean.
Intel Korea’s president Lee Hee Sung said, “2NE1 can exemplify the Ultrabook’s stylish and unique image very well and Teddy is Korea’s top producer, therefore I am positive they will be able to make the “Make Thumb Noise” project a success. This project will be one in which everyone who is interested in IT and culture will be able to participate and communicate with each other.”
Teddy and 2NE1′s CL said, “We became interested in working on the “Make Thumb Noise” project with Intel Korea because they are allowing fans to participate in the process of producing the music, which we thought was creative. We will try our best to make great music through the process and the finalized product. It will be an exciting project.”

Leeteuk shares his thoughts after watching Super Junior’s MBC Special

Super Junior‘s leader Leeteuk revealed his thoughts after watching ‘MBC Special – Super Junior Dreaming Of A K-POP Legend’.
On May 9th he wrote on his Twitter page, “ ‘MBC Special’. I finally watched the full version. Super Junior is truly amazing! It made me cry…” along with a screen capture of the broadcast.
The documentary special aired back on April 27th. The broadcast not only revealed Super Junior performing on stage, but also their daily lives and their personal stories.
Netizens responded to Leeteuk’s tweet saying, “I also cried while watching.“, “Super Junior is truly amazing.“, and “Every time I see Super Junior I am proud of them.”

Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ha Neul enjoy a romantic cherry blossom date for ‘Gentlemen’s Class’

SBS’s upcoming drama. ‘Gentlemen’s Class‘, has dropped new still cuts featuring a romantic cherry blossom date with lead roles Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ha Neul!
Filmed last month at Yeonhee-dong, Seoul, the new couple is seen walking side by side on a jaw-dropping backdrop of the night sky and cherry blossoms in full bloom. Stylists paid special attention to their ‘first date fashion’, opting to go for a subtle couple look by matching navy and white pieces.
As gorgeous as the scene is, it didn’t come without tedious effort, as producers revealed that they had to check the weather day and night, along with making sure that they could have the pathway cleared out of bystanders. The actual scene took hours for the conditions to finally all come together.
Producers stated, “We had to check so many conditions to make sure that we could film their date scene while the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Thankfully, it all came together for us, so we hope that the viewers will be able to enjoy the scene.”
‘Gentlemen’s Class’ begins airing on May 26th!

Choi Siwon’s grandmother passes away

Super Junior‘s Choi Siwon is in a state of grief.
On January 8th, the star tweeted that his grandmother had passed away and so he’ll be flying out to Japan to attend to family matters. “Hello beautiful world. I lost my grandmother on my mom’s side. That’s why I’m in Korea now and leaving early in the morning for Osaka,” he wrote. ”Please pray for me and my family. Thank you.”
Siwon later tweeted a thank you message to his fans, who’ve been pouring their love and support onto Twitter. He attached a screencap of the ‘Trending Topics’ list, which had ‘#prayforsiwon‘ on the top.
Our thoughts go out to him and his family. May his grandmother rest in peace.

Popular Youtuber, The Fine Bros, releases “Kids React!” video on K-pop

Earlier today, popular Youtube Series “Kids React!” posted a video on K-Pop, in particular they review “Bonamana” by Super Junior, GEE by Girls’ Generation, and 2NE1‘s “I am the Best“. As expected, K-pop fans have flocked to the video in droves.
The Kids React! series is the brainchild of filmakers Benny & Rafi Fine. The duo produce, direct, and MC the videos. Their channel has over 1.3 million subscribers.
The children themselves range from age 7 to 13. They are from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds, but all seem to be raised/living-in America. Every week, the kids are presented with a topic and their reactions and commentary are recorded.
In the episode on K-pop, one young girl confuses Girls’ Generation with the Wonder Girls, while one of the boys equates the genre to “Asian Rebecca Black“. Most of the children seemed impressed with the production quality and creativity of the music videos, things many kpop fans enjoy as well.
Though the kids’ reactions can be a but harsh, it’s interesting to see a different perspective on K-pop music and videos.

CNBLUE releases PV for Japanese “Where You Are”

After wrapping up a winter tour in Tokyo last December, CNBLUE is starting the new year with a new Japanese single titled “Where You Are“! Having released a thirty-second teaser two weeks ago, Warner Music Japan revealed the full PV to the public today.
Written and composed by member Yonghwa, “Where You Are” is receiving already receiving widespread praise both in Japan and Korea. Jonghyun also delivers a guitar solo that reaffirms CNBLUE’s status as a talented rock band.

CNBLUE members arrive in Hong Kong

CNBLUE‘s overseas fame shone brilliantly when they drew hundreds of fans at an airport in Hong Kong.
On January 7th, CNBLUE landed in Hong Kong for their ’CNBLUE 2012 Asia Tour Concert Bluestorm in Hong Kong‘.
Over 200 fans gathered around the airport to get a glimpse of CNBLUE, who were said to be smiling at their large reception. The band’s leader, Jung Yonghwa, is seen in casual airport outfit wearing a maroon colored sweater paired with sunglasses. The other members also opted for comfortable outfits with sunglasses to protect their eyes from the paparazzi’s camera flashes.
Thanks to Yonghwa’s dramas like ‘Heartstrings‘ and appearances in entertainment programs like ‘Running Man – Hong Kong Edition‘, CNBLUE’s popularity skyrocketed in Hong Kong.

Electroboyz’ “Ma Boy 2″ ranks on Inkigayo ‘Take 7′ for four weeks in a row

Brave Brothers‘ Electroboyz are continuing their popularity with “Ma Boy 2“, even into the New Year!
On the January 8th episode of SBS‘s ‘Inkigayo‘, fans noticed that “Ma Boy 2″ had ranked in the ‘Take 7′ for the fourth consecutive week in a row. Other than a few performances, the Electroboyz haven’t really promoted the song anywhere else, so both the group and their company were surprised to see how well it consistently fared on the chart.
One industry official said, “This is the first time I saw a digital song maintain its position at the top in the fast changing digital music market. It’s easily explainable because the song is simply very good.”
Electroboyz expressed, “After spending 10 years without getting noticed, we always wondered when we’d be able to stand on that stage whenever watching ‘Inkigayo’ together. Getting into the ‘Take 7′ definitely exceeded our expectations, and we’re glad that we were able to maintain our spot there for four weeks. It’s something worth just as much as a ‘Mutizen’ trophy to us. We’ll repay the love with better songs in the future.”

15th anniversary YG Family Concert is an enormous success

Celebrating their 15th anniversary, YG Entertainment continues to see enormous success with their ‘YG Family Concerts’, the latest concert in Osaka, Japan, drawing 80,000 fans to a one-of-a-kind concert featuring some of the biggest names in K-Pop.
With artists such as Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, Gummy, Tablo, PSY, and Jinusean, YG artists celebrated for two straight days at the Osaka Kyocera Dome on the 7th and 8th of January.
2NE1 kicked off the energetic night with their debut track, “FIRE“, and Big Bang took to the stage soon after, drawing immense cheer from the crowd.
Se7en continued the festivities, and sang the Japanese versions of his songs “Better Together” and “Somebody Else“, the title track for his Japanese mini-album, which is scheduled for release on the 18th.
As recent inductees to the YG Family, Tablo and PSY also provided solid performances, and PSY‘s trademark wit was in full effect as he dressed up as “Lady Psy Psy” and “Psyonce“, parodying the popular American artists.
Next came Gummy, on the heels of her first Japanese album, and Jinusean followed soon after with “Phone Number” and “A-YO“.
As for special stages, Big Bang‘s Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri collaborated with Se7en to perform 2NE1‘s “Lonely” and “It Hurts“, and Gummy, Taeyang, and Park Bom made a special appearance on Tablo’s stage.
Altogether, 41 songs were performed at the YG Family Concert, and the energy never let up during the entire three-and-a-half hour long concert.
YG Entertainment is scheduled to take their family concert to the Saitama Super Arena on January 21st and 22nd.

Super Junior and Big Bang popularity beats Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber in Top 10 singer to perform in London Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Recently, a website hold a top 10 rating through which they would choose the singers to perform on the opening ceremony of London Olympic Stadium. Website hold an audience choice poll where every person can vote for the wanted singers. And currently, South Korean bands are leading the Top 10 poll.

Super Junior ranked the highest beating famous singers like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber followed Big Bang got on the second position. SHINee who have previously rocked London with there successful concerts are sixth position and Girls’ Generation are on tenth.

Super Junior member Donghae, when came across this news, he playfully tweeted, “This one. Now we have to go London!”

The comments on the website regarding their voted singers are also quite interesting where they are praising them, Super Junior were described in these words, “Super Junior is the mix of everything! They are not just pretty Korean boys. Although this name will be unheard for many people don’t be tricked because every single member is very talented. Fighting Super Junior!”

While Big Bang’s fans wrote, “Big Bang has American and Asian music style. They are unique among all. It’s not there looks but their music that we love. They should be the one performing.”

For SHINee fans wrote, “There’s no one can escape from SHINee’s charm! They have excellent singing ability, superb dancing n choreography, unique personality at such young age! They’re talented and we will never regret choose them!”
