Jay Park to promote smoke-free campaign

Singer / Actor Jay Park has recently signed on to a campaign to help brighten the future of Korean adolescents.
He was appointed as a spokesperson for the ’2011 Adolescent Smoking Prevention Campaign 2011 – Always Check ID’ press conference that was held by the Korean Tobacco Association on the 4th.
He will be actively promoting a smoke-free campaign to help discourage teenagers from smoking. He will also help spread public awareness of this campaign by taking to the city streets.
At the press conference he stated, “Its an honor for me to be a part of a campaign with a good cause that will help brighten the future of our next generation, and I will do my part to bring positive change.”

YG Entertainment to take legal measures against malicious rumors about their artists

YG Entertainment has announced that they will no longer tolerate the ongoing, malicious rumors about the company’s celebrities. The company stated that they plan to take legal action against perpetrators who spread baseless rumors.
On November 3rd, YG Entertainment stated, “We’ve recently heard malicious rumors involving our stars and marijuana usage, including Park Bom, Sandara Park, and Minzy. These rumors have been spreading on news outlets, stock reports, and social networking sites. They are absolute nonsense.”
They continued, “At first, it was so ridiculous that we simply ignored the rumors.  However, the rumors were spreading so fast that we have decided we will no longer tolerate the situation anymore. We plan on taking legal measures with an attorney.”
YG Entertainment further stressed, “We will say this again, these rumors are absolutely false, so fans do not need to worry.  There are some media outlets, news outlets, and stock reports that have been reporting on these false stories. We plan on taking legal action against them for defamation and spreading false information.”
They continued, “We will submit a formal complaint tomorrow [November 4th] in the morning.  Furthermore, we plan on investigating anyone who is related to the cause of the problem with the help of Seoul’s Cyber Police.”
YG Entertainment’s stocks have been taking a hard hit because of these drug-related scandals. The agency reportedly lost around 3 billion Korean Won ($2.7 million USD) in total over G-Dragon‘s marijuana scandal, as their stock prices dropped from 24,600 to 22,100 Korean Won per share ($22 to $20 USD). At this time, reports regarding the current status of their stocks over these new developments have yet to be revealed.

AA makes their debut on ‘Music Bank’!

AA (or “Double A”) has been causing a stir over the past month through the gradual introduction of their members. They also made headlines with their performance at the ’2011 K-POP Super Concert’ with fellow labelmate and actress, Ha Ji Won.
On November 4th, the boys launched their official debut through ‘Music Bank’ with their title track, “Because I’m Crazy“, an electro-dance song composed and produced by member Aoora.

T-ara reveals jacket shots for “Cry Cry”

As they wait to make their official comeback, girl group T-ara released the jacket shots for “Cry Cry” from their new album, “Black Eyes“.
The girls ditched their cutesy look for an image that’s definitely more edgy and powerful. Their strong gazes manage to ensnare, despite the monochromatic effect of the pictures.
T-ara will follow up with another set of photo releases on November 15th for their other main track, “Lovey-Dovey“.

“Crucible” (“Silenced”) to play in North American theaters with English subtitles

Last month, Gong Yoo‘s latest film “Crucible” (English title: “Silenced“) was released at the CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles. Now “Crucible” will be making its way across select theaters in North America with English subtitles.
“Crucible” is based on a true story, and its issue of child abuse and molestation caught the eye of major American news outlets like The New York Times, The Economist, and The Wall Street Journal. During its first week showing at the CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles, viewers donated over $4,000 USD to help the victims portrayed in the film.

CNBLUE to hold ‘Encore Bluestorm’ concert

CNBLUE has announced that they’ll be holding their ‘Encore Bluestorm’ concert on December 10th and 11th at the Seoul Olympic Park.
FNC Music revealed, “This concert will be held for the fans in Korea who’ve been requesting an encore concert… The CNBLUE members are currently practicing in order to show fans their various sides.”
After debuting with a major label in Japan in October, CNBLUE reached #4 on the Oricon Chart and sold over 70,000 copies of their album within one week. They also had 7,000 fans also show up at their guerrilla concert, which resulted in the concert being shut down due to safety issues.
Prior to the encore concert, the boys will be kicking off their Asia tour in Thailand on November 19th.
